A successful Product Placement Program takes time. Your products need to be presented to and requested by productions, put onto appropriate sets, filmed, edited and aired. Depending on each production schedule the range of time it takes is variable. However, you will see results along the way. There are two levels of results in Product Placement that should be reported by your Agency.
Products On Set - A Product Placement Program begins with the Agency identifying and providing your product to appropriate productions. This will start immediately. Good agencies will offer monthly reporting on all shows that have received your product. This reporting should consist of descriptions of productions on which product(s) have been Placed and when those Placements occurred, along with any known context of the usage.
Aired Placements - Of course, the real results are when these productions actually air. In general, a movie can take from 12-18 months to be released from when they start shooting. A TV show generally takes between 6-9 months. Occasionally, it can happen in 3-6 or even less, and 9-12 is also possible. It all depends where a show is in their shooting schedule when the Product Placement Agency places the product.
For context, if a series streams all episodes simultaneously, a placement must wait until all episodes are shot until it airs. So if your product is placed in episode 1 of 12, you will take much longer to air than it would if it was placed in episode 12 of 12. When television is released per-episode, the wait time is dependent only on the episode itself and the network's schedule.
A good Agency should provide its client a report with the reach and value of each of those aired placements as well as still shots and video of what actually aired.
